In accordance with Chapter 115 of the Laws of Missouri and Article IV & Article VIII of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Carthage, notice is hereby given that there shall be elected the following city officials at the General Municipal Election to be held April 8, 2025: Mayor to serve a one-year term, One Council Member from each of the five wards to serve two-year terms, and One Council Member from Ward 3 to serve a one-year term.
Requirements for position of council member are at least 21 years of age prior to taking office, a citizen of the United States, an inhabitant of the City for one year next preceding his or her election, a resident, at the time he or she files and during the time he or she serves, of the ward from which he or she is elected, and cannot have any outstanding campaign disclosure reports due from any prior elections.
A photo ID will be required for all candidates.
Those persons wishing to be designated on the ballot as a candidate shall file their declaration of candidacy in the office of the City Clerk, 326 Grant, no sooner than Tuesday, December 10, 2024 beginning at 8:00 A.M. The last day to file is December 31, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. The office of the City Clerk will not be open on Saturdays and Sundays or those days designated a holiday by the City of Carthage.
The filing fee for each elective official shall be $25.00 payable by cash or credit card (processing fee will apply) or a petition with 25 signatures from registered voters from the ward represented. All filing fees shall be paid to the City Clerk at the time of filing.
